Who does a System Administrator report to?? A System Administrator will typically report to the Infrastructure Manager or Director of Infrastructure Support.
What does a System Administrator do? System Administrators maintain and install new elements of an employer’s hardware and software systems.? They also assist in planning for system changes to accommodate new business capacities or other changes.? This may include daily checks to make sure there have been no software or hardware failures, all elements are running smoothly, backups are done, etc.? A Systems Administrator may also help create or close user accounts, purge or archive files, and provide tier III support.? They may provide system maintenance by applying OS patches, supervising upgrades and hardware updates, and researching, recommending, and implementing new solutions for operational needs.? A Systems Administrator role generally requires a Bachelor’s degree with a major like Computer Science and at least a few years of relevant experience.
